Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. But for a person from Irish heritage surrounded by gifted parents and family, those were not innate traits. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based company and was the owner of a portion of "The Shamrock Rovers" an eminent Irish soccer squad. Maureen FitzSimons was 2nd in the household of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen was an athletic natural and enjoyed playing tough sporting games. Her talent for performing was a perfect complement to her passion for sports. It was evident that she was the winner of each Feis for theatre and drama the Irish had to offer. When she was fourteen, she was admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing as well as classical theater.
