Shay Mitchell is a Canadian model, actress and businesswoman. Her most well-known work is her part as Emily Fields in the Freeform show Pretty Little Liars. After achieving great results in modeling and dancing, she wanted to try her hand at acting and took acting lessons in Toronto. Mitchell was able to land several commercials as well as appeared in guest roles on television shows prior to landing her debut character as Emily Fields. Fans and critics lauded her talents as an actress. Her next step was to make a mark in the world of cinema with films like the DreamlandMother's Dayand The Possession of Hannah Grace. She gained wider recognition for her performance in the psychological drama series You. Alongside acting, she's stepped into writing. Shay Mitchell, born April 10th, 1987 in Ontario, Canada, was brought up by her mother and father Mark Mitchell, and Precious Garca. She is of Filipina descent, and her father has Scottish/Irish heritage. Mitchell is also a cousin of Lea Salonga, a famed musician and musical theater actor. Mitchell was a student at Rockridge Secondary school before she moved to West Vancouver Secondary. In her teens she was modeling for a variety of companies across the globe. She travelled to Barcelona as well as Bangkok before returning to Toronto to study acting.
